Join us at The Red Chair Café for Our First Friday Event Featuring the Photography of Sam Wasson
A commercial and editorial photographer, Sam started out shooting sports action photography in New Mexico in 2006 and moved into shooting landscapes after an inspirational hike to Raven Glacier along the Crow Pass trail shortly after moving to Alaska in 2009. "...after moving to Alaska in the fall of 2009 it was hard to ignore the beauty that surrounded me." "Throughout my travels for both work and pleasure, I’ve taken the opportunity to capture all sorts of different scenery whether it was the ocean views of Hawai’i or the desert landscapes of New Mexico and Arizona and everything in between."
"I have a particular fondness for shooting sunsets and I’m always on the lookout for a good sunset shot. I’m not a particularly patient person (which is why I shoot a lot of sports) so shooting sunsets and waiting for that perfect snapshot in time really helps me expand my comfort zone. One of the main goals of my photography, whether it’s one of my sports photos or one of my landscape photos, is to make you the viewer want to be there where the photo was taken."
